Spring Mini Sessions: Best Locations in and Around York, PA

Spring in Pennsylvania is honestly a little chaotic. One day it’s 80 degrees and everyone is outside in shorts, the next day we’re getting tornado warnings… and then somehow snow again. Classic PA behavior.

But once the weather finally decides to calm down, something magical happens. The grass starts turning green, trees start blooming, and suddenly everyone remembers how nice it feels to be outside again. And as a photographer, this is one of my favorite times of year for sessions. The light is soft, everything is fresh and colorful, and kids actually want to run around outside instead of being bundled in coats.

If you’re thinking about maternity, family, or milestone photos, spring is such a beautiful season to do it. Over the years I’ve photographed families all over York, Lancaster, and the surrounding areas, and there are a few spots I always come back to when spring arrives. Here are some of my favorite locations.

Lancaster Central Park

Lancaster Central Park is huge, which means there are so many different looks you can get in one session. There are wooded trails, open grassy areas, ponds, and beautiful tree-lined paths that look incredible when everything starts blooming in the spring. The evening light here is especially pretty, and there’s plenty of space for kids to move around and explore.

Stillmeadow Park York

Stillmeadow Park is one of those places that feels simple but photographs beautifully. In the spring the trees along the paths fill with white blossoms and everything turns that bright fresh green that just feels like the start of a new season. It’s peaceful, relaxed, and perfect for families who want natural looking photos without a lot of distractions in the background.

Greenfield Park Lancaster

Greenfield Park has such a nice mix of scenery. There are rolling hills, big open spaces, and beautiful trees that start blooming as soon as spring hits. It’s one of those parks where families can just walk, laugh, and hang out while I capture everything naturally.

Long’s Park Lancaster

Long’s Park is a classic Lancaster location for a reason. There’s a pond, gardens, big open fields, and a charming gazebo that adds a little extra character to photos. When the trees and flowers start blooming, the whole park feels bright and full of life.

Hershey Gardens

Hershey Gardens is honestly a dream location for spring photos. The flowers, the beautiful landscaping, the little paths through the gardens — everything is colorful and elegant. If you love the idea of photos surrounded by blooms and greenery, this place is stunning.

Cousler Park

York Cousler Park is one of my favorite York locations for families. It has wide open areas, tree-lined paths, and a nearby lake that adds a really pretty backdrop. The whole park has a calm, relaxed feel that works really well for natural family photos.

Lititz Springs Park

Lititz Springs Park might be one of the cutest parks around. There are little bridges, ponds, and beautiful trees everywhere. It has a charming small-town feel that makes sessions here feel really cozy and fun.

D.F. Buchmiller County Park Lancaster

This park is one of Lancaster County’s hidden gems. The stone bridge, open grassy areas, and winding paths make it such a beautiful place for photos. It’s peaceful and natural, which is perfect for relaxed family or maternity sessions.

Eagle View Park Dover

If you love open fields and a bit of countryside charm, Eagle View Park is a great option. There are wide open spaces, pretty trees, and beautiful golden evening light that looks amazing in photos.

Thinking About a Spring Photo Session?

Spring sessions are some of my favorite because everything feels fresh, bright, and full of life again. Whether you’re celebrating a growing belly, capturing your family as it is right now, or just wanting updated photos of the kids before they grow another six inches, spring is such a fun season to do it. If you’re looking for a family, maternity, or milestone photographer in York, Lancaster, or the surrounding areas, I’d love to help you plan something beautiful.
