Senior Photos York PA: Best Locations in York, Lancaster & Harrisburg

We all know this. Senior photos are NOT what they used to be.

This is a big moment, and your photos should actually feel like you. Your style, your personality, your energy… all of it. Not something generic, not something that feels like everyone else’s—something that actually looks like your life right now.

And believe it or not, the location plays a huge role in that.

If you’re trying to figure out where to take your senior photos in York, Lancaster, or Harrisburg, I’ve got you. I’ve photographed hundreds of seniors all over Central PA and there are many places that consistently give us the best mix of light, variety, and overall experience.

This is one of those locations that people don’t always think of right away, but once you go there, it just makes sense.

You’ve got the river, soft grassy areas, and those warm stone textures that give everything a really nice look without doing anything extra. It’s easy to move around, nothing feels crowded, and we can get a lot of different looks without going far.

The light here in the evening is always good, which makes a huge difference. Early morning sunrises are breathtaking as well if you are an early riser.

If you’re not totally sure where to start, this is a really easy yes. You can also take a look at more examples on my senior sessions page.

Downtown York, PA

If you want something with more personality, this is where we go.

Downtown York gives us so many options—murals, brick, alleyways, little tucked-away spots—that make your photos feel more like you instead of something basic.

This is also where bringing a second outfit really pays off. You can change halfway through and it feels like a completely different look without needing a second location.

John Rudy Park – York, PA

This is one of those locations that just feels easy from start to finish.

Open space, soft light, and plenty of room to move around. You don’t feel rushed, and we’re not stuck in one spot trying to make it work.

It’s also a great option if you want to include something personal—your dog, your car, or anything that matters to you.

State Capitol Complex – Harrisburg, PA

This one is a little more classic, but in a way that still feels current.

The steps, the columns, the details—it all photographs really clean and gives your images a more polished look. If you’re planning a dressier outfit or want something a little more elevated, this is a great option.

Hershey Gardens – Hershey, PA

This is one of those locations that just looks good no matter what.

Flowers, color, and really nice light—it’s simple in the best way. If you like a softer look and want something that feels natural and pretty, this is always a solid choice.

Country Joy Flowers – Elizabethtown, PA

This place stands out immediately.

The flowers, the greenhouse, the color—it gives your photos a completely different feel compared to a typical park. It’s fun, it’s bright, and your gallery ends up feeling really full and interesting.

If you want something a little different, this is one of my favorites.

Long’s Park – Lancaster, PA

Long’s Park gives you a little bit of everything without being overwhelming.

There’s water, trees, open space, and enough variety that your gallery doesn’t all look the same. It’s a really good option if you’re still figuring out what direction you want to go in.

Garden of the Five Senses – Lancaster, PA

This spot is smaller, but it photographs really well.

It’s tucked away, calm, and gives you those softer backgrounds that keep everything looking clean and simple. If you want something a little quieter without losing interest in your photos, this is a great option.

A few more locations I love

There are also a few places I recommend all the time depending on what you’re looking for.

Lititz Springs Park has a really nice small-town feel with great walkways.

Downtown Lancaster is perfect if you want something more modern and clean.

Shenks Ferry Wildflower Preserve is incredible when everything is in bloom.

If one of those feels like you, we can absolutely plan around it.

How to choose the right location

This part doesn’t have to be complicated.

If you like something soft and natural, go with gardens or open parks. If you want something more bold or styled, downtown is a great option. And if you just want something that’s easy and works every time, places like John Rudy or Long’s Park are always a safe bet.

And if you’re unsure, that’s completely fine. I’ll help you figure it out.
