Pregnancy is such a beautiful, exhausting, exciting time all rolled into one. One minute you’re rubbing your belly and daydreaming about meeting your baby, and the next minute you’re googling “why does my rib feel like it’s being karate chopped from the inside?” and wondering how it’s possible to be this tired all the time.
And that’s exactly why I love at-home maternity sessions.
When you’re at home, everything just feels easier. You’re comfortable, you’re relaxed, and you don’t feel like you have to perform for the camera. We can just slow down for a little bit and capture this season before your whole world changes in the BEST. WAY. POSSIBLE!
This sweet maternity session took place right at home in Dover, just outside of York, PA, and it was the perfect reminder that you don’t need a big fancy location to create beautiful photos.

When you’re expecting, your home kind of becomes the center of everything. You’re setting up the nursery, folding tiny clothes, talking about names, and counting down the weeks until you finally meet your baby.
Photographing a maternity session at home captures a little piece of what life looked like before the baby arrived. Years from now these photos will remind you exactly what this season felt like.
Many maternity clients also book their newborn session so we can document the next chapter once their baby arrives.

One of the best things about at-home maternity sessions is how relaxed they are. There’s no rushing out the door, no worrying about the weather (unless you are shooting outside).
You can sit on the couch, stand by a window, walk around your space, and just be together. Those natural, easy moments almost always end up being the photos families love the most.
If your session is outside around your property, we will find the very best light along with the very best background! When you have a well rooted photographer they will find all of the sweet spots. No need to worry.

Another reason I love in-home sessions is all the little details that become part of the story. The way the light comes through your windows or tree line. The nursery you’ve been working on. The tiny baby clothes waiting for their new owner.
Those details may feel small now, but years from now they’ll be some of the most meaningful parts of these photos.

I photograph maternity, newborn, and family sessions for families throughout York, Dover, Lancaster, and the surrounding Pennsylvania areas. At-home sessions are one of my favorite ways to document the excitement and anticipation before a new baby arrives.

Pregnancy can feel long when you’re in the middle of it, but once your baby is here it suddenly feels like it flew by. Having photos from this season is such a special way to remember what life felt like right before everything changed.
And trust me… one day your baby will look at these photos and think it’s pretty amazing that they were right there in your belly the whole time.
