There’s a lot of pressure around photos.
Clean houses. Perfect outfits. Smiling kids. Everyone looking at the camera at the same time.
But real life DOESN’T LOOK LIKE THAT. And guess what…it isn’t supposed to either.
Some of the most meaningful photos aren’t the polished ones. They’re the everyday moments you almost don’t notice while they’re happening. The way your toddler holds onto your leg. The way your baby clutches onto your finger. The chaos of kids ALWAYS under your feet. And also the quiet pauses that make up your daily life.
That is the gold! That is the real life stuff! The good, the bad and yes even the ugly.
That’s what a Story of Home session is about.

A Story of Home session is a VERY relaxed, documentary-style family session that takes place in your home or right outside it.
I do not “pose”. I for sure don’t say “everyone say cheese.” There is zero pressure to do anything perfect.
There is no need to perfect your home. You don’t need fancy outfits. And you definitely don’t need your kids to be on their perfect behavior!!
I taught preschool for almost 20 years and I have 6 children of my own. Perfect behavior just doesn’t exist! And I will be the first one to ask you to stop correcting your littles. LET THEM BE!!!
I focus on connection. The way your family naturally exists together. These sessions are cozy, real, and completely centered around you and your family. Don’t forget about your fur babies, too!!
Think less “photo shoot” and more “this is us.”

One day, your kids won’t care if the house was clean. Geesh, you should see mine! Let’s just say we are clean but our home is also very much lived in! Does if give me anxiety sometimes? Um TOTALLY!!! Do I care most days? Nope. Not even a little.
They also won’t remember whether their outfit matched anyone else’s. These sessions are not about planning out your wardrobe. So just stop!!!
What your littles will recognize how it felt to be held. To be safe. To belong. They will remember so many of the good times!!! And we all know that photographs are the best meds for our memory!
These photos become reminders of:
And those are the images that grow more valuable with time — not less. Trust me with this one!

This part is important, so read it again if you need to:
Your house does NOT need to be spotless.
I’m not photographing your furniture, your dust bunnies or your sink that is full of dishes. I’m photographing your family. Messy corners, toys on the floor, and imperfect spaces are all part of your story. Nothing should be Pinterest perfect! Who lives like that anyway?

Story of Home sessions are slow and gentle. I move at your family’s pace. Kids can take breaks. Babies can be held. Nothing is rushed. Because rushing leads to meltdowns for kids AND parents. And we don’t want that!
There’s always space for:
You don’t need to “perform.” You just need to be present.

These sessions are especially great if:
If traditional posed sessions feel super stressful and you cringe at the thought of another JCPenny session…..this is likely a better fit.

DO NOT WAIT for things to slow down!!! Because guess what? They won’t. Being a momma means the noice is there, so is the mess, you are exhausted, hair always in a messy bun….but you will want to remember all of it.
Your corner chair where you read books before bed, the kitchen table where you paint and build puzzles, the driveway were the kids ride their bikes and play kickball with daddy.
Photos don’t need flowers or matching outfits to matter. They matter because you were all there!

If a Story of Home session sounds like what you’ve been craving, I’d love to help you capture it.
These sessions are designed to feel easy, meaningful, and deeply personal — because your family deserves to be remembered exactly as you are.
